The Progressive Pit Program
Faced with a growing population of pit bull terriers in our shelter, a small group of our dog handlers developed The Progressive Pit program. Much bad press, breed ban legislation and dog fighting has left these dogs as the least adoptable in most shelters.
We saw a need to address their specific characteristics...to make them "extra 'specially" adoptable and show potential adopters what we already knew...that these are great dogs deserving of a great home. Born in 2011, the mission of the PPP is to work exclusively on the needs of the shelter’s bully breeds through obedience training, agility work, and socialization.
To date, over 200 graduates of the Progressive Pit Program have been adopted to happily ever after loving homes!
